Get to know a staff member
This week we have our Head of Marketing in here for us to get to know. He does a lot of the background work for our community, it is none other than NinComPoop! I caught up with him this morning so that we can get to know him a little more.
Me=BOLD
Nincompoop=Non-Bold
What’s your gamer tag, and how did you come up with it?
Im NinComPoop1402. At the time I was really getting back into the cartoon network show Ed, Edd, n Eddy and at the same time playing a lot of Apex Legends. I wasn’t that good at the game and my team work really needed improvement. I would make really dumb plays. For example, a teammate would ping that there’s a full team in that building several meters away. What do I do? Rack one into my shotgun, load up my smg or what I like to call A Dream (the P2020) and storm it like the world worst SWAT agent. Then, I started to get better and I kept it because not only did you get wrecked by one person with his team rushing to catch up and by someone named nincompoop. The 1402 is a deep cut. It’s a date, 1/4/02, the day the episode “Will Work For Ed” aired for the first time.
What’s your go-to game right now, and why?
As of right now I’m getting into a lot of Helldiver 2. They had just dropped it on Xbox and are doing a halo O.D.S.T. cross and it’s so much fun. If you’re someone that’s just getting into it. Feel free to massage me and ask questions or join in.
If you could only play one game for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Hahaha that’s got to be one of the hardest questions you could ask a gamer. I’d probably go with something like No Man’s Skies. I love the endless “whats over there?” and every update just helps with that.
What’s your role on the Rebel Vibez staff team, and what do you enjoy most about it?
I am Head of Marketing. I’m really enjoying learning how a discord community works and the challenge of sharing the message of welcome and support to others looking for a group with similar interests
What first brought you to Rebel Vibez, and what made you want to stay?
I’ve known taytay9293 and country4life9398 for many years IRL. They knew I was having a hard time finding people to play games with and invited me to check it out. Come to find out I found a group to collaborate with on a bigger project.
Tell us about a favorite gaming memory you’ve had with the community.
Funny enough, there’s not one single I can choose. Just making the inside jokes and sharing the singular over worked brain cell. Bye buddy, hope you find your dad.
If you could squad up with any gaming character (or pro), who would it be?
Depends on what we are doing. We taking down major corporations bent on destroying the earth for major profit and control? Cloud Strife 100%. Are we trying to survive a world end apocalypse with multiple factions trying to shape the future of the word? Ellie Williams. Either way, you better be down for the cause and willing to do what it takes for the object to be met.
What’s your hype song or soundtrack when you’re gaming?
Im a huge lover of the OSTs of games but games that really dont have music, such as Battle Royals, i like anything from Anamanaguchi. Specifically the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World game OST.
What’s one random fun fact about you that Rebels might not know?
I love retro gaming and collecting retro games. I’d love to one day have a museum where people of all ages can come and experience that it’s like playing these classics first hand. Ranging from the days of the early days of PC games to the arcade to the future or VR and AR. I also want to help people leave how to preserve and repair these so that the future can continue learning from the past.
What’s your message to the Rebel Vibez community this week?
Hop in one of the community VCs and say high. Everyone is full of shenanigans. And don’t forget to touch that weird green stuff that’s everywhere outside.

random fact
The haunting cry of the Nether’s Ghast is actually… a cat.
When Mojang was developing Minecraft, sound designer Daniel Rosenfeld (C418) was experimenting with audio recordings for the game’s creatures. One day, his pet cat let out a strange noise while waking up from a nap—a mix between a yawn and a squeak. Curious, Rosenfeld recorded it and later distorted the sound.
The result? The eerie, otherworldly cries of the Ghast, one of the most unsettling mobs in the game. That single cat sound became a defining audio feature of Minecraft, making the Nether an even more intimidating place for players venturing into its fiery depths.
It’s a reminder that some of gaming’s most unforgettable moments don’t come from high-end production—it’s often the accidental, real-world quirks that stick with players forever.
song of the week
This week’s soundtrack pick is “My Mind Is a Mountain”, the brand-new single from Deftones, released on July 10, 2025. It’s their first new track in five years, and it comes roaring in with heavy riffs, moody shoegaze layers, and industrial edge.
Why it’s a Rebel Vibez fit:
- Intensity + Atmosphere – The track builds with raw energy and hypnotic textures, perfect for those late-night lobbies or clutch competitive moments.
- Critical Acclaim – Already called a “Deftones banger for the ages” by Revolver, the song has landed on charts across the US and UK.
- Community Energy – It’s a song that captures the balance of chaos and calm, just like a Rebel squad locking in for a big win.
Whether you’re grinding for crowns, running comp nights, or just vibin’ in Discord, throw this track on and let it fuel your focus. This week, Deftones is the official soundtrack of the Rebel spirit.
