Red Dead Redemption 2

The Basic History Of The Trilogy.

Since its release in the fall of 2018, I have loved the game Red Dead Redemption 2. It takes place in the Western United States and is set in the year 1899, including both the beginning and end of the main story. The epilogue, split into Parts 1 and 2, continues the narrative and serves as a prequel to the first game, Red Dead Redemption (released in 2010), which is set in 1911, with its epilogue taking place in 1914.

Fun Fact: Not everyone knows this but Red Dead Redemption (2010) WAS NOT THE FIRST Red Dead game! The very first one was called Red Dead Revolver which was released in mid 2004 where you play as Red Harlow and was also a revenge story if my memory is correct.

Details.

You play as Arthur Morgan, a trusted and senior member of the Van Der Linde Gang. The Van Der Linde Gang was founded and lead by Dutch Van Der Linde. The game begins in a snowy mountain region in the fictional state of Ambarino, which draws inspiration from places like Colorado, Wyoming, and the Rocky Mountains. You and your gang retreat there after what was supposed to be a (somewhat) simple ferry robbery, but it was ambushed by the Pinkerton Detective Agency. During the chaos, Dutch showed no mercy—the most shocking example being when he shot an innocent young woman point-blank in the head. Although the game doesn’t show the trainwreck unfold directly, the event and the gang’s remorse are described in great detail throughout the story.

This is (in my opion) one of the most detailed games (could easily be the most detailed) at the time of launch, the developers at Rockstar Games spent 8 years working 100 hours a week on average making and perfecting this game!! And honestly it REALLY REALLY SHOWS!

With subtle silly details like male horse testicles changing size depending on environmental temperature, and more noticeable details like corpses slowly decaying if left alone for long enough with scavenger birds like Vultures feeding on the flesh. As well as microscopic details like if you go into photo mode and zoom in very close on animal’s eyes like a whitetail buck for example you can see the surrounding landscape!

My Experience With Red Dead Redemption 2

I have put well over 1200 hours into this game across all platforms since day 1. I spent all my birthday money on the pre-order of Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate Edition for Xbox One in june of 2018 and have bought it on steam and epic games as well, this was the second game that I finished the story without help (the first was either Red Dead Redemption 2010 or Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox One) I can not express how much this game (along with Bully Scholarship Edition and various GTA games) helped me in school, I would do my best to hold in my excitment until the end of the day when I would get home and unwind in the game.

The story is one of the best I’ve played, with plot twists, and countless moments that will tug at your heart strings I do not understand how it didn’t get game of the year. I don’t want to explain too much of the story so that if you haven’t played it and you want to, you will get a raw experience.

Overall Numeral Rating: 10/10
