Its Friday, you know what that means! This week I decided to give 2 for 1 special. A piece on why gaming is good for you and Delta Force Game Review. So lets dive right into this!

Why I’m Loving Delta Force

I’ve played a lot of FPS games over the years—Call of Duty, Battlefield, Apex, you name it. But lately, I’ve found myself hooked on something a little under the radar: Delta Force.

Yeah, that’s right—Delta Force is back, and this reboot by Chinese developer Team Jade is honestly one of the most slept-on free-to-play shooters out right now. I’ve sunk enough hours into it to confidently say it’s a solid 8.5 out of 10 for me, and honestly, the pros far outweigh the cons. Here’s why it’s become my go-to over Battlefield, and why I think more people should give it a shot.

First off, it’s free. That alone makes it worth trying, but what surprised me is how polished it feels for a free-to-play title. The gunplay is smooth, the mechanics are tight, and there’s a tactical layer that adds real depth. You’re not just running and gunning aimlessly—positioning, timing, and loadout choices actually matter.

And unlike Battlefield, where it sometimes feels like you’re locked out of content unless you’re grinding forever or paying extra, Delta Force is refreshingly balanced.

The progression system hits a sweet spot. If you’ve got decent FPS experience, you’ll start ranking up fast. Both your player level and gun unlocks move at a good pace once you get the hang of the mechanics. There’s not a steep learning curve, but there’s definitely enough there to keep things interesting.

The best part? There’s no oppressive “meta” ruling over the loadouts. Pretty much every gun feels viable. You can pick up any weapon, learn it, and pop off with it. That’s rare in modern shooters, where a few broken guns dominate the game.

One of my favorite things is how balanced and fair the game feels—even when I’m solo queueing. I play by myself most of the time, and Delta Force has done an awesome job making matchmaking smooth and competitive. I don’t constantly feel like I’m being stomped or stuck with teammates who gave up five minutes in.

Even when I lose, I still have fun. That’s not something I can say about most shooters these days.

Right now, the Battlefield-style mode doesn’t have a huge map selection—but the devs are clearly committed to growing it. They’ve been dropping new maps and weapons each season, and so far everything they’ve added has been solid. The new guns come with challenges that aren’t a grind, and best of all—they’re actually balanced. No overpowered nightmare weapons ruining matches.

Recently, they dropped a story campaign, and it’s pretty much Black Hawk Down: The Game. If you’re into military shooters with cinematic vibes, this mode is worth checking out.

There’s also another mode that’s clearly inspired by Escape from Tarkov—you drop in, loot, and try to extract. I haven’t dived deep into it yet since I don’t have a squad for it, but it looks promising if you’re into that survival/tactical grind.

Console Players, Hold Tight
One downside is that it’s currently PC-only, and the console release got delayed. That said, the devs have been transparent and are working on getting it out as soon as possible. Once it drops on console, I expect this game to blow up even more.

Final Thoughts (and a Shoutout)
Overall, Delta Force is a surprisingly fun, well-balanced FPS that nails what so many other games get wrong. It respects your time, doesn’t nickel-and-dime you, and delivers satisfying gameplay whether you’re going solo or squadding up.

And I’ve gotta give a quick shoutout to Zero for putting me on to this game before it launched—absolute legend.

If you’re a fan of Battlefield or just looking for something fresh in the FPS world, Delta Force is 100% worth checking out.

Why Gaming Is Actually Good for You
When people think about video games, the first thing that usually comes to mind is entertainment—just a fun way to pass the time. And yeah, gaming is fun. But there’s actually a lot more going on behind the scenes than most people realize. Whether you’re exploring open worlds, teaming up in online battles, or solving tricky puzzles, video games can do a lot of good for your brain, your mood, and even your social life.

Here’s a breakdown of some real benefits of gaming that often get overlooked:

1. It Makes You Smarter (Seriously)

A lot of games—especially strategy or puzzle-based ones—require you to think fast, plan ahead, and solve complex problems. It’s not just mindless button-mashing.

Games like Zelda, StarCraft, or Civilization push your brain to work in ways that improve memory, critical thinking, and decision-making. Over time, players often get better at multitasking, paying attention to detail, and reacting quickly to challenges—which are all super useful skills in everyday life.

2. Better Hand-Eye Coordination and Reflexes

If you’ve ever played a fast-paced shooter or sports game, you know how much focus it takes to time things just right. Those quick reactions and precise movements aren’t just good for winning rounds—they can actually improve your coordination and fine motor skills in real life.

Fun fact: Some studies found that surgeons who play games are actually more accurate during delicate procedures. That’s Wild, right?

3. You Meet People and Build Real Friendships

Gaming isn’t the antisocial activity it used to be stereotyped as. In fact, a ton of games are built around teamwork and communication—especially online multiplayer ones.

Whether you’re raiding in Destiny, building in Minecraft, or just messing around in GTA Online, you’re often working with others, forming communities, and even making real friendships. For people who struggle with social anxiety or don’t get out much, gaming can be a great way to connect with others and feel part of something.

4. It Helps You Unwind and Deal with Stress

Let’s be real—life can be stressful. And sometimes, escaping into a game world is the perfect way to decompress.

Games like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing are basically therapy in pixel form. Even more intense games can offer a sense of accomplishment and control, which can be super helpful when everything else feels chaotic. A lot of gamers say playing helps them feel calmer, more focused, and ready to take on whatever comes next.

5. You Can Learn Stuff Without Even Trying

Some games are built to be educational, sure—but even the ones that aren’t can still teach you a ton. You might pick up historical facts from Assassin’s Creed, learn physics from Kerbal Space Program, or get creative building insane structures in Minecraft.

Games can spark curiosity and make you want to learn more about the world around you—and that’s pretty cool.

6. It Can Open Doors to Creative and Career Opportunities

Gaming isn’t just a hobby anymore. People are turning it into full-on careers—streaming on Twitch or YouTube, competing in esports, designing their own games, or creating content like mods, fan art, or animations.

If you’re into storytelling, design, or even coding, gaming can be a gateway into something bigger. It gives you space to explore your interests, express yourself creatively, and maybe even make some money along the way.

Final Thoughts

Gaming might have had a bad rap in the past, but let’s be honest—it offers way more than just entertainment. It exercises your brain, helps you chill out, builds community, and can even point you toward your future. Like anything else, it’s all about balance. But don’t let anyone tell you gaming’s a waste of time—because it’s actually doing a lot more for you than you think.

Florida Man Moment of the Day:

Before we wrap things up, here’s your required dose of Florida-style chaos.

On April 10, 2024, in Palm Coast, Florida, deputies were arresting 32-year-old Brandon McGinnis for multiple charges—including resisting arrest, disorderly intoxication, and violating probation. But right before being taken into custody, he made one last legendary request:

“I’m cracking this beer, OK?”

Yes—while being arrested.

He then proceeded to open the beer and start drinking it in front of the cops like it was just another Tuesday. No panic, no fight—just vibes. 🍺

Here in Florida, we stay undefeated
